This year, AI technology seems to have exploded like never before. AI tech is becoming commonplace in everyday computer software and teens are jokingly having conversations with chatbots like ChatGPT. The world is indeed experiencing a technological shift.

As artificial intelligence continues to integrate into our daily lives, questions surrounding the safety and ethicality of the technology have been raised. In fact, the very word, “artificial intelligence” may lead some to conjure up images of Terminator: Judgement Day. Could AI and robots really rise up and rebel against humans?

At this stage, it’s safe to say that AI could not pull off something like that on its own – but with the help of bad power players, it’s not unrealistic to assume that AI could be used by bad people. Just like any technology that has the capacity for good, it could also be used for something very bad.

When it comes to AI, we should simply be aware that there are pros and cons to any new and developing technologies. To that end, AI is possibly best viewed through the lens of experts who are closely acquainted with the development and possibilities of AI tech.

There are many different viewpoints on AI, so be sure to check out these episodes below! The Counter Culture Mom Show brought a few techie-experts and a Bible scholar to discuss the ramifications of normalizing artificial intelligence in society today. It just might change the way you view the emergence of AI technology!

Dr. James Spencer

Nobody can deny that the technology of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing rapidly. As AI systems like ChatGPT expand their knowledge and attempt to mirror human intelligence, potential dangers related to this evolving technology have arisen. Dr. James Spencer, president of the D.L. Moody Center, shares valuable insight into the pros and cons of AI technology, as well as how the Christian should specifically approach this new digital tool. Will it be used for good or evil? Will AI be used for large-scale deception? The potential drawbacks and threats of AI technology include “deep fakes” and a negative change in how brains learn and develop. Progress, for the Christian, James explains, is ultimately defined as conformity to the image of Christ.

Jeff Lindsay

Artificial Intelligence (Al) is not currently at a level to pose a serious threat to humanity, says Jeff Lindsay. As president of Planet Lindsay, Jeff has used a wide variety of AI tools in his work involving intellectual property and technology, and has reported on both strengths and weaknesses. He explains that Al is not inherently evil, and it’s not the technology itself that poses danger. Rather, we should be more worried about who controls the technology. He also shares how AI chatbots tend to be riddled with sloppy information or stark untruths while being very careful to push key narratives on many topics. Additionally, Jeff raises questions about the motives of major leaders in the AI field who are calling for government regulation of Al.

Paul Begley

No one knows the time or the hour that Jesus Christ will triumphantly return to Earth, but Paul Begley is confident it will be soon. Paul is a pastor and the host of Paul Begley Prophecy, where he discusses the signs and scriptural clues surrounding these chaotic end times. He talks about AI’s technological possibility to explain a few of the prophecies in Revelation, such as when the wicked Beast opens his mouth and speaks. Paul additionally highlights how AI is taking over media and information tributaries. He also points out how the Bible predicts in 2 Thessalonians that in the last days, a “strong delusion” will come over the people that will cause them to trust the Antichrist.

Bryan Osborne

Teens and pre-teens are heavily influenced by popular culture, and they will be incredibly influenced by the technology of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as new tools like ChatGPT have emerged. Bryan Osborne is a dynamic speaker and author who has a Biblical perspective on why kids and adults are swayed by the society around us. He warns that parents must be extremely discerning when utilizing technology within the home, especially since teens and pre-teens are prone to getting gravely addicted to smartphones and social media. What may seem sweet and innocent on the surface may be ultimately demonic in its ideology.
