great cause

My husband and I recently attended an FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) banquet and were highly impressed with the dedication and passion the leaders had for America’s kids. What wowed me even more were the teens, tweens and even elementary school students who shared about their goals in life and how FCA has helped guide them to be the excellent leaders of tomorrow. There was a second grade girl who read a short story with so much power and boldness in her voice. She made it easy for us to want to partner with this organization.

Kathy Wiesen is our FCA area representative for Lake of the Ozarks. She is one of the hardest working women I know who invests every moment into equipping our teens for greatness. When I asked her why she chose to volunteer for this specific organization, she said, “I got involved when I was coaching because I knew I wasn’t coaching as strong in the Christian faith as I should have. I saw the impact on the students and myself and it was so powerful that God was clearly calling me to do this. It’s all about him.”

Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Attend a Conference Every Year

Why I'm addicted to attending conventions

Do you love learning new things and expanding your reach with the message God placed on your heart? Then register to attend a conference today!

Ever since I was a kid, I just loved learning. I would read books in our huge apple tree in the front lawn of our 300 acre farm. I would get done doing the farm chores, grab a book and head midway up that tree to gain more knowledge and understanding about the world. The only thing was, the more I learned, the more I yearned to venture off that farm and travel around the globe. I wanted to experience all that I had read about in person. And that…I did.

Besides reading, one major way that helps me hone my craft is by attending national conferences. At least once a year, I register for a convention that equips me do what I do better, whether it would be mothering or mentoring. The more I learn, the better I can be to reach others with the message and mission God has placed on my heart.

The Top 5 Benefits of Being in a Mastermind!

What I've learned while doing life with other like-minded women!

Stuck in a rut? Need help to take your dream or mission to the next level? Done trying to figure things out on your own? Form a mastermind today!

About 2 years ago, I was stuck! I knew I had a message that saved lives. I’ve been sharing the jam-packed media show called Hollywood Exposed for over 14 years, however, now a homeschool mom of 4, I still want to reach the masses but I knew the method of delivering that message would need to be tweaked. After going through Michael Hyatt’s book “Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World” with my dear friend Kim Keller, I knew this conference would be a great follow up to the book. The more I could learn about how to get my message out to more people, the more people I could help. I was in!

It was November 2014, when I flew to Denver, Colorado to attend a conference I didn’t know would change my life. The Platform conference’s main mission, hosted by Ken Davis and Michael Hyatt, is to help people build and expand their platforms. Whether you’re a speaker, writer, blogger, vlogger or even a business owner, this conference helps equip people to hone in on their talents and become laser focused on building their mission and message online. “They know they have something great. They just can’t figure out how to let the world know about it,” explained former Chairman and CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishing, Michael Hyatt.

It was like drinking out of a fire hose for those 5 full days at the Platform conference. One of the takeaways, was that a majority of leaders were involved in a mastermind at one time in their life. And their testimonies about them made me want one!

Wondering What a Mastermind Is?

I did too. Forbes contributing writer Stephanie Burns commented in her mastermind article, “A mastermind group is designed to help you navigate through challenges using the collective intelligence of others.” Over the past year and a half, I’ve realized that together we can become more powerful than pursuing our mission alone.

Why We Should All Take an Annual Vacation!

Our recent refreshing trip to Ireland...

Taking an annual vacation provides valuable benefits for our mind, body and spirit. It is critical we take time for ourselves so that we can give to others.

annual vacation

I hardly take a vacation. I got that habit from my dad. He was a dairy farmer from Pulaski, WI. I grew up watching him work the farmland and provide for our family. So much so, that he now tells me he wishes he would have taken more time to hang out with our family.

Since I placed my faith in Christ at the age of 16, I wanted to serve Jesus with all I had and live life to the fullest. However, I sometimes forget to just take time for myself. A pastor once said that we should live by the 7-7-7 rule. Every seven months spouses should take a getaway trip. Every seven weeks do a family trip. Every seven days do a date night. This sounds fantastic.

“Is this really happening?” was the reoccurring statement throughout the weekend for my friend Mary and I.

After speaking at the Activate Student Conference at Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Mississippi, a group of us met up at a steak house. This wasn’t just any steak joint. This was the home of the latest American Idol winner Trent Harmon! When Luke and I first saw Trent audition for the show, he was our farm kid favorite.  I told Luke, Trent would be one of the top two people standing in the final round of competition if not the winner.
