Nearly 250 years ago, 56 brave men pledges their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to declare America’s independence from the tyrannical power of the British crown. In that moment, the American experiment was birthed. A bloody eight year Revolutionary War nearly wiped out the Continental Army and the colonists on numerous occasions – but God’s hand was over our people. There is no other explanation for the inexplicable near-escapes and impossible victories experienced by those early freedom fighters.

This Independence Day, the nation is in turmoil. We are facing a potential world war, thanks to the ongoing and unfettered crisis in Eastern Europe. China is more aggressive than ever before. Our domestic federal government is increasingly working to implement policies that are antithetical to the Christian foundation of the nation’s bedrock. It can seem hopeless, but remember this: patriots never give up!

When you are celebrating America’s independence this week, remember to look to the heavens and thank God for the unparalleled liberties and constitutional rights that He has blessed us with. And, above all else, remember that freedom is not free, and that it is always worth fighting for.

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!
