What’s a family member to do? You have a teenage girl in your family, and you want to buy her a present. But what does she want? What does she need?
It just so happens that I myself am a teenage girl. They say to “speak from experience,” so I intend to do so. Here, I will share some fun ideas for teen-girl gifts at Christmas.
Of course, I must give a quick disclaimer: I do not represent the desires of all teenage girls. Everyone is different! When considering what to give a person as a gift, you must always account for their unique personality and interests. This post is just a place to start, and you can also do a variation of some ideas, to best fit your gift-receiver. Let’s get into it!
Gift ideas
Books
Make sure to consider the gift-receiver’s personality and preferences here. Some girls love to read, some don’t– if they don’t, probably don’t buy a book for them.
Blanket
This one may not pertain to your teenage gal, because some families/households own lots of cozy blankets. However, I know if someone got me a warm, soft blanket for Christmas, I would be overjoyed! 😀
Brio teen girl magazine
I have received this magazine for roughly the past three years, and I always get excited when it comes in the mail. Brio is a bi-monthly, Christian magazine for teen girls. It has fun articles (quizzes, recipes, etc.), Q+As about health and other topics, and insightful pieces about the Christian life/faith.
Chapstick
This is a classic one, and really practical! It’s a great thing to put into a stocking.
Clothing
This is a BIG one. Many teen gals love to get clothes for Christmas. Consider asking your teenager what she wants before trying to find something, unless you know their personality and clothing style pretty well.
Gift based upon a hobby
For example, if the teenager loves to bake, you might purchase baking supplies. This type of gift is very special and personal, because it is unique to what they love. I highly recommend doing a gift like this! Other examples include: crocheting→crochet supplies; pianist→new piano music; walking→new shoes, etc.
Gift card
Many teens (such as myself) enjoy buying the occasional coffee from a local shop, or spending money downtown. A gift card is perfect for someone who likes to shop and make their own choices!
Journaling Bible
I enjoy journaling very much, and I know that many other teen girls do as well! A journaling Bible is very special and will be treasured by the gift-receiver.
Pens
Not all teenage girls are crafty or artistic; to be honest, I’m not really like that. However, I love to receive high-quality pens for Christmas. It makes me so happy, because I journal a lot. And there’s something about pairing colors together as you’re writing notes– it is quite satisfying… I digress. This is a great gift for many teen girls!
Summary
Ultimately, gift-giving on Christmas is not the most important part of the season. Gifts are exciting to give and receive! But without the proper perspective, it can begin to seem like gifts are the best part of Christmas. Encourage your family, and remind them of the true reason we celebrate: Jesus! Without Jesus, life is pointless. The Gospel– the good news– is only made possible by what Jesus did for us. We are free in him, and by him.
My hope is that these gift ideas will make Christmas even more fun-filled and blessed for you and your loved ones. Merry Christmas, and have a wonderful rest of your December!
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10:10-11).
