Current Events/Resources/Biblical Perspective

Overnight (Friday to Saturday), the U.S. military began one of the most complex aerial and missile attacks in history (if not the MOST complex), officially going to war with Iran amid apparent murmurings from intelligence that the country was planning to build a nuclear weapon.
Whatever you think of the political situation, Iran, Israel, or the current administration, one thing is clear: a nation in conflict is a nation that needs prayer more than ever! What’s more, we can expect that there will be considerable global unrest and unease in the days leading up to the return of Christ. In fact, Jesus said so! In Matthew 24, He tells his disciples this about the lead-up to the End Times: “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.”
Don’t be alarmed! This is all part of God’s plan. Wars come and go, but God – and His plan – is unchanging. When it comes to international conflict, the most effective thing we can do is pray for the safety of our military men and women, pray for justice, and pray for peace. We may not understand everything that’s happening in the Middle East today, but it’s no mystery as to why the entire world’s attention is always drawn back to that geographic region. In the end, it will be the final destination for Armageddon. All nations will eventually gather against Israel (Zech. 12:3). Today may not be that day, but as Christians, we have an excellent context for WHY there are always conflicts between Israel and other nations.
Today, as you see video clips of bombs, missiles, and explosions, take a minute to pray for peace! When you hear wartime propaganda from ANY source, pray for clarity and discernment. When you’re tempted to live in fear of the future, pray for strength and courage. Pray for the safety of the innocent. Pray for our leaders, as they make decisions that will affect the entire world. Pray for the salvation of all involved. There is nothing, after all, more important than that!
“Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
