Are your kids asking to watch Stranger Things on Netflix and you’re not sure if it’s something you want them to see? Check out this quick review to find out what season 3 entails.
While Stranger Things season three does not push a liberal/openly immoral agenda, it’s questionable at best. Released on July 4, 2019, some say it even leads people towards a Christian worldview when it comes to fighting good and evil due to the spiritual battles portrayed. The show features a ‘portal to another world’ called the ‘Upside Down’ which represents unknown battles that are always brewing below the surface. Here’s a great Christian perspective on this new series regarding the portal to another world.
Stranger Things Plot
I’ll admit, I watched all three seasons of Stranger Things. I thought, how bad can a show be if it features pre-teens in the 80’s?! Well, I found out soon enough. According to the description of the series on IMDB, the story originally started, “When Joyce’s 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.”
Red Flags in Season 3
The main focus of the show, and especially season three, is the friends banding together and doing anything it takes to uncover and eradicate the evil force that is infiltrating their small town. The pre-teen characters show courage, loyalty, and true friendship throughout the show and some are even willing to give up their lives to save their friends! Sounds innocent enough, right? However, Netflix is up to its old tricks again of pushing a liberal agenda into almost every episode and as the kids are nearing 15-16 years old by season 3, things start to go downhill fast.
In season three you’ll find:
- a lot of cussing, including numerous uses of the Lord’s name in vain
- rebellious high school student is seducing a married woman with no consequences revealed
- teen girl flirts heavily with a guy only to tell him that she she actually likes girls, not guys
Way to go, Netflix! (sarcastic here) We almost got by without filling the homosexual reference quota, but they threw it in towards the very end just to send it over the edge in terms of anything remotely family friendly. What I’ve noticed is that many, many shows start out clean and positive and then after we get hooked to the characters, plot, etc. usually season 3 the true agenda of the show is right in our face. Problem is, millions of teens adopt this agenda and are conditioned to believe the lies being promoted through the series. And with all their friends watching, it’s hard to disengage even if they don’t agree with what is happening

My advice? Do not allow your kids to watch Stranger Things and instead, get Tina’s positive entertainment media guide loaded with messages that are filled with life-giving plots.
