Green Drink – A Secret Weapon for Great Health!

Hard to get your kids to eat the recommended daily fruits & veggies? Try making this green drink and get the energy you need to keep up with life’s demands.

From the moment us moms wake up and our feet hit the floor, we want to give our best to all of those around us, from kids, husband to co-workers. Many times, we forget to take care of our own body. There are constant battles we face that without a strong immune system, we would be in bed and not on the front battle lines. Therefore, one of my secret weapons to keep myself and my family healthy is by making my power-packed green drink. I don’t know about you, but for as long as I can remember, it’s always been a challenge to eat the USDA recommended 5-9 servings of fruits and veggies each day. That’s like spending the entire day eating at the kitchen table – yeah right.

I did my best at chomping on the carrots, yet I frequently find myself coming up short. We all know fruits and veggies provide the essential vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and fiber our bodies desperately need. So how do we make sure we power up enough so we can keep up with life’s demands? Well, several years ago I came across several articles on the benefits of making a green drink. I have come to LOVE making and downing these beneficial smoothies and my kids always ask for seconds!

People who’ve consumed these drinks have noticed the following benefits:

  • major weight loss
  • eliminated chronic fatigue syndrome
  • decreased or eliminated allergies
  • cured eczema
  • reduced asthma
  • found relief from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

Green drinks have also been shown to prevent cancer. Moms! You’ve got nothing to lose and these drinks are so simple and fast to make. I use my Vitamix, but any high-powered blender will work.

Feel free experimenting with different greens or liquids from what is listed below. However, after several homeopathic doctors over the years have advised me, the following components are the most beneficial for your body. (This batch is for a family of 6) To make the drink, just put the following ingredients in your blender and blend on high for about a minute. Done.

GREEN DRINK

1 cup of *powered mixture (recipe below)green drink
2 cups of frozen berries of your choice (we use mixed fruit)
2 bananas (one if you like a less sweet taste)
2 cups of greens (we use spinach, kale or red leaf lettuce)
1 can of coconut milk or almond milk
2 cups of filtered water (we use the Berkey water purification system)

For the powered mixture, mix the following ingredients together and store in a jar with a lid in the refrigerator. This will prolong the beneficial properties of the goods and speed up the time when making your drinks. When ready to use, just measure the amount you need according to the number of people you’re making the drink for. Approximately 3 Tbsp per person.

POWDERED MIXTURE

1 cup of chia seeds
1 cup of cacao nibs
2.5 cups of hemp seeds
1 cup of green tea powder
1 cup of food grade diatomaceous earth
1 cup of ground flax seeds (blend flax seeds for 7 seconds to get most Omega 3s)
Tera’s Whey (optional: for those who want protein like my husband)

We all love the energy we feel after drinking one of these green drinks. So many great vitamins and nutrients in one power-packed drink! The kids actually ask me to make it for them. No soda or Kool-Aid in this house. I know this drink helps me get through a busy day of homeschooling, maintaining the house and brainpower needed for my writing and speaking.

Your body will thank you for feeding it what it needs! No more racking your brain on how to gorge on a half a cart of fruits and veggies daily! If you’re interested in experimenting with a variety of other recipes, our green drink adventures started with this book – Green Smoothie Revolution. When we eat the right foods, we will think clearer, make better decisions and be able to whether the challenges that come our way. Cheers!

Hey Tina, man my mouth was watering by the time I got done reading your article. Can you tell me though, I have some stuff in the frig that I just bought called Naked Green Machine. Looks like pool algae with the consistency of vegetable oil. Is your receipt better tasting/looking than pool algae vegetable oil? Either way I’m gonna drink it because I want to start eating and drinking healthier. Thanks.

Um…yeah…Randy…this recipe sounds much more amazing than vegetable oil consistency from back of fridge! Don’t clog your arteries 🙂 We need you on the front battle lines! Let me know how you like them when you make your first one!
