Why I Only Do Laundry Twice a Month!

Want more time to do the things you really want to do? Moms! This is why I only do laundry twice a month and I have a lot more time to do the necessities!

I usually get some shocking looks and comments when I share my laundry routine with other moms. Yes, I’m an oddball in that I only deal with washing dirty clothes twice a month. I’ve tried all different tactics, but this system has worked the best for me by far. I always felt like I was continuously washing, folding and putting away laundry when I tried any other system. With my counter-culture mom mentality, the best way I could get the most done with homeschooling, speaking, writing and traveling, was if I only dealt with dirty undies every other Friday. Weird, I know, but it works for me!

You might be thinking that your kids don’t own enough clothes to stretch it out that long. This is an easy fix. My kids wear their shirts and pants more than one day if they aren’t trashed. Yes, they wear thicker clothes during the winter, but they aren’t outside that much, which helps stretch it out. Summertime consists of more nasty clothes, but they are usually thinner tops and shorts! So this system works all year round. All I needed to do was buy an extra pack of undies and socks for each kid in oder to get them through two weeks without running out of clean attire.

laundryMy goal was to be able to free up time during the week in order to write this blog, for example, prepare for the next speaking event or spend more time with my kids! Instead of bouncing around doing laundry every other day and then fitting in only 30 minutes to do other necessary things, I could have larger chunks of time to work on the most pressing jobs without getting side-tracked. So my every other Friday quickly became my FULL DAY of laundry and in between loads – deep cleaning the house. Earlier you start that day, the better. Good news is…when the laundry was washed, dried, folded and put away that day, I didn’t have to see it again for 14 days! Hip-Hip-Hooray!
The questions I’m asked the most often from people, is how I homeschool my kids, keep the house looking clean and organized and continue speaking, all while raising four little munchkins 7 and under.

Seriously moms…

I have the kids help sort laundry and put the clean clothes away once it is done as well. When I have four little bodies running throughout the house to put away their clean smelling goods, it also speeds up the process. Techno or dance music in the background is a bonus! Sometimes I throw in a little treat they can look forward too once the job is done 🙂

In order to do what God called us to do, weather it’s homeschooling our kids, taking them to their extra-curricular activities, doing a spontaneous family trip together or working on your home business, it’s crucial we use our time in the most valuable manner. That way, we have more time to do the things we really want to do, instead of saying we can’t do such-and-such because we have another load of laundry to do.

So do a quick trip to the store, throw some undies and socks in the cart and see how much time you save this month to do what you’ve always wanted to do, but never had the time for! Happy sorting!

Question: What other time saver ideas do you implement at home? You can leave a comment by clicking here.

This is how I got through final exams in school!! I see NOTHING wrong with this! I’m working full time and commuting the equivalent of a part time job. There is NO time for being anal about laundry when we are in a country where we are blessed enough to have plenty of clothes & underwear AND washing machines. (Of course in college, this meant less time in the apartment laundry facility.)

Hope you are doing well. We are having a prayer for the entertainment industry and Christians in entertainment mixer. That will also be the last meeting for my 4-year project of preparing Universal Studios Hollywood for the opening of Wizzarding World of Harry Potter. If you see the ads on TV, just pray for me and my fellow 4 Christians who are trying to meet on Mondays, and feeling very small in the midst of a LOT of STRESS, ladder climbing, jockeying for positions, etc. New levels make for a lot of political positioning. This was a quiet little
theme park. I could write a book.

Anyway… blessings… keep rallying the troops to pray for us. Hollywood Prayer Network is a very good resource that I depend on.

Think of you with every political campaign! Just found t-shirts from 04. WOW. I thought the world was ending in 08…but here we are. sigh.

If you’re ever in LA, look me up!

When the weather starts to turn cooler, I like using my Sunday afternoons after church to make my soups and casseroles for the week. It helps with my cooking during the week. (This is the ONLY thing I like about cool weather🥶🥶)
